San Jose Sharks centerman Macklin Celebrini will be out a minimum of seven days after being placed on IR with a lower-body injury.

Head coach Ryan Warsofsky said he expects Mikael Granlund to slide into Celebrini's spot on the top line with William Eklund and Tyler Toffoli.

After a terrific NHL debut with a goal and an assist, the players understand the significance of Celerbini's loss.

"Obviously, [Celebrini is] a great player. We're going to miss him out there, but I think the most important [thing is] for him to get back and be fully healthy," Eklund said. "I think it's tough for him. He wants to be out there. He wants to compete with us guys. So we're going try to play for him today."

Fellow linemate Tyler Toffoli says he's experienced losing a player of Celebrini's caliber on former teams.

"[Celebrini is] already one of the best players on our team, if not the best. He's going to be missed," Toffoli said. "Unfortunately, I've been on teams where we've lost one of our best players for long periods of time, and it just gives other guys an opportunity to step up."

Will Smith told reporters that he sees Celebrini every morning. Despite the injury, Smith says Celerbini is in a good mindset.

"He's doing good. I talked to him. I see him every morning, and he's in a good spirit. Obviously, he's bummed missing the game, but he's going to be back soon," Smith said. "I mean, it sucks. Obviously, you never want that to happen, but it's part of the game, and hopefully, he's back soon."

The Sharks host the Anaheim Ducks tonight at 7 p.m. PT in their second game of the season.
