With the season winding down, the San Jose Sharks are at the bottom of the NHL, which would give them the best odds of winning the No. 1 overall pick at the 2024 NHL Draft.
Frank Seravalli reported that the Draft Lottery could occur on May 6th or 7th.
The lottery results are usually released before an evening of playoff games begins. Bill Daly, the NHL's Deputy commissioner, will hold up cards that show the results of the ping-pong balls.
The actual lottery is done with lawyers and league officials in attendance earlier in the day.

Projected No. 1 pick Macklin Celebrini would bolster the Sharks lineup tremendously. Along with 2023 first-round picks Will Smith and Quentin Musty, the Sharks rebuild would look even brighter with two projected superstars at the center position.
Earlier this season, The Athletic ranked the Sharks prospect pool at No. 4. If they win the lottery and select Celebrini, they could easily have the best prospect system in the league.
