Filip Zadina scored two goals to achieve a new career high. The San Jose Sharks have found a consistent spot in the lineup for him to develop like never before.
Zadina is up to 12 goals in 59 games, surpassing his career high of 10.
The 24-year-old had lofty expectations for himself after the 2018 NHL Draft. He was selected No. 6 overall by the Detroit Red Wings. It never quite worked for him with the winged wheel, but a fresh start and consistent linemates have paid dividends.
Zadina has seven goals and two assists in the 13 games since the All-Star break.
For the past eight games, he's been playing on a line with William Eklund and Luke Kunin. During those games, he scored four goals. Zadina discussed the effectiveness of staying on his consistent line and his chemistry with Kunin, who had the primary assist on his goals last night.
While nobody is expecting Zadina to magically become a top goalscorer in the NHL, a solid finish to the season and consistent top-six forward minutes could help his chances of scoring even more next season.
Zadina will be an RFA after this season and has a chance to sign a nice extension with the Sharks. At 24, he is a perfect piece for the Sharks to keep around for the rebuild.
