Former San Jose Sharks center Tomas Hertl spoke with Ashali Vise over the weekend about everything involving the Vegas Golden Knights, including why he approved the trade.

Author's note: That felt weird writing former 'Former San Jose Sharks center.'

While the general media hasn't had public availability with Hertl, the Knights' Twitter posted a 12-minute conversation between Hertl and Vise.

Hertl is his usual smiling self and shows a newfound excitement that he has a chance to go after the ultimate goal of the Stanley Cup.

Vise did ask Hertl why he approved the trade to Vegas. She references that the chance of winning a cup has always been on his mind throughout the season.

"We've played so much against them because we are in the same division. I know how tough they are. Even the building is so tough to win in," Hertl answered. "I just love the team. I think this team is built like a playoff team. They have a lot of guys who know how to win. When I look at this team, they are just built for playoff runs."

The San Jose Sharks' record at T-Mobile Arena is 4-9-3. Hertl has experienced it and has most definitely heard how loud that building can get.

"The first game will probably be weird for me. I would be lying if it wasn't," Hertl said about playing for the Golden Knights at home. "I have always enjoyed playing in this arena. There is so much energy. It is so loud. It is crazy. It is different in all hockey arenas. I'm looking forward to playing there, not even because of the rivalry."

Hertl has silenced the playoff crowd before.

Hertl also talked about what he can bring to the team off the ice in the most Tomas Hertl way.

"When I was in [San Jose], I said fun must be always, so I always try to bring the smile into the room," Hertl said. "I am always in a happy mood, but when it's needed, I am not scared to speak up."

Hertl is currently on IR and is expected to return for the last part of the Golden Knights season and be fully healthy for their projected deep playoff run.
