Former St. Louis Blues forward Jakub Vrana has placed on waivers by the Washington Capitals, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.

Vrana signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Washington Capitals back in October after participating in their training camp on a professional tryout (PTO). In 26 games this season with the Caps, the former Blue has seven goals and 11 points.

While Vrana has provided decent offense when in the lineup, his placement on the Capitals' depth chart has dropped as this season has carried on. He has been healthy scratched several times, playing in just three games since New Year's Day.

Before reuniting with the Capitals for this season, Vrana spent the two previous campaigns with the Blues. After being acquired by the Blues during the 2022-23 season from the Detroit Red Wings, Vrana thrived, recording 10 goals and 14 points in 20 games.

However, Vrana struggled this past campaign with St. Louis, posting just two goals and six points in 21 games. He also spent most of last season with the Springfield Thunderbirds, where he had 16 goals and 36 points in 42 games.

Teams looking for more depth scoring could consider taking a flier on Vrana. We will need to wait and see what happens with the former Blue from here.
