Former Lightning Forward Thriving with Avalanche

This former Lightning forward is having a strong season with the Avs.

During the 2023 NHL Offseason, the Tampa Bay Lightning traded Ross Colton to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a 2023 second-round pick. The Lightning's cap trouble forced them to part ways with Colton, and it's a move that has since benefitted the former Bolt.

Colton, 27, has been a great fit for the Avalanche, as he has 16 goals, 37 points, and 137 hits. Overall, he has provided the Avalanche with quality secondary scoring, steady defensive play, and immense physicality. As a result, he has been a big addition to their top nine.

Colton has given the Avalanche one of the most impactful third-line centers in the NHL. What's more encouraging about the skilled forward is that his play is improving as the year progresses. With the playoffs being around the corner, this could not have come at a better time for the Avs.

There is no question that the Lightning miss Colton in their lineup. He was such an important player on their roster because of his all-around solid play. However, it is also lovely to see that he has found a great home with the Avalanche. Let's see how the rest of his campaign goes from here.
