This Lightning goalie is set to miss some time.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are gearing up for a big contest tonight against the Detroit Red Wings. A win would put them just two points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs for third place in the Atlantic Division. However, they will be without one of their goalies for the matchup.
The Lightning announced that netminder Jonas Johansson is dealing with a lower-body injury and will be out day-to-day. The 6-foot-5 goaltender was also absent at morning skate.
Johansson, 28, has appeared in a career-high 28 games this season for the Lightning, posting a 12-7-5 record, a 3.37 goals-against average (GAA), and a .890 save percentage (SV%).
Overall, Johansson has been serviceable as the club's backup, so here's to hoping that he suffers no setbacks with what should be a quick recovery.
With Johansson out, there's a distinct possibility that EBUG Kyle Konin as their backup goalie tonight. Andrei Vasilevskiy will be the club's starter for the matchup.
