The Tampa Bay Lightning have made a roster move, recalling goaltender Matt Tomkins from the Syracuse Crunch on an emergency basis.
Lightning goaltender Jonas Johansson is currently out day-to-day with a lower-body injury, and the Bolts needed to use EBUG Kyle Konin as their backup against the Detroit Red Wings because of it. However, with Tomkins now joining the club, he will serve as their backup while Johansson is out.
Tomkins, 29, appeared in his first three career NHL games earlier this season with the Lightning, posting a 1-2-0 record, a 3.40 GAA, and a .889 SV%.

Since Andrei Vasilevskiy returned from injury, Tomkins has been with the Syracuse Crunch. In 29 games with the AHl squad, he has a 15-12-2 record and a .904 SV%.
