The Lightning should target this top college free agent.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are one of the hottest teams in the NHL, having won seven out of their last ten games. Their strong play lately has helped their playoff chances significantly, as they hold the top wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
While things have gone well for the Lightning on the ice, they should still consider browsing the market for college free agents. There are some solid players available for the taking, but the main player that they should have on their radar is forward Collin Graf.
Graf, 21, is the top NCAA free agent this year and would be a massive addition for the Lightning. There's no question that their prospect pool could use a boost, and landing the Massachusetts native would give them just that.
Graf was a star for Quinnipiac University this season, posting 22 goals and 48 points in 32 games. The same can be said about him during 2022-23, as he had 21 goals and 59 points in 41 games for the school.
With Graf producing well over a point-per-game over two seasons, there's real reason to believe that he is ready for the NHL level. If signed by the Lightning, he would have the potential to improve their forward group due to his high offensive IQ. With that, he also offers versatility, being able to play on the wing and down the middle. That naturally adds to his overall appeal.
