The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced the roster for their first of two pre-season games against the Montreal Canadiens on Friday.

With the Leafs having five pre-season games in a span of seven days, it looks like the roster will be pretty thin. There are just two forwards that earn an average annual NHL salary of over $2 million in Tyler Bertuzzi and David Kampf. On defense, just two defensemen (Timothy Liljegren and David Kampf) earn over $1 million.

Ilya Samsonov is also on the roster and is expected to see action for the first time in the pre-season. Toronto's starting goaltender has been held out of action by design as part of his training camp program.

    Where to watch the game

The game will be on in the Maple Leafs broadcast region on TSN4 and TSN 2 in the Canadiens region. For the rest of Canada, the game will be available on the Sportsnet+ premium subscription that features NHL Center Ice. The game will also be on NHL Center Ice in the carrier of its respective country.
