Toronto selected Cowan in the first round (28th overall) and Chadwick in the sixth round (185th overall) of the 2023 NHL Draft.
Two Toronto Maple Leafs prospects were nominated for Canadian Hockey League awards this season, but only one takes home hardware.
Easton Cowan was nominated for the CHL's Player of the Year Award, given to the most outstanding player in the Canadian Hockey League. The most valuable player from each of the three leagues — Jagger Firkus in the WHL, Mathieu Cataford in the QMJHL, and Cowan in the OHL — are nominated for the newly-named David Branch Player of the Year award.
The 18-year-old Maple Leafs prospect had a career year with the London Knights, scoring 34 goals and 62 assists for 96 points in 54 games. Cowan also had a 42-game point streak (regular season and playoffs), from Nov. 25 to Apr. 13.
However, he missed out on the CHL Player of the Year Award as it was given to Firkus, a Seattle Kraken second-round pick who had 61 goals and 65 assists in 63 games with the WHL's Moose Jaw Warriors.
Maple Leafs prospect Noah Chadwick was also up for an award at the CHL's ceremonies. The 19-year-old defenseman, Owen Sound Attack's Carter George, and the Chicoutimi Saguenéens' Alexis Morin were nominated for the Scholastic Player of the Year Award.
Chadwick, who had 12 goals and 44 assists in 66 games with the WHL's Lethbridge Hurricanes this season, won the award on Saturday afternoon. He had previously won the WHL's Daryl K. (Doc) Seaman Trophy, given to a player who's excelled both on the ice and in the classroom.
"He's a very smart person. I think he had a 93 percent average and has done really well his his academics, their top academic player in Lethbridge that they've seen for a long time," Maple Leafs assistant GM Hayley Wickenheiser praised Chadwick at development camp last July.
"He's a pretty intelligent kid both on and off the ice."

Toronto signed Noah Chadwick to a three-year, entry-level contract in December. He made his professional debut with the Toronto Marlies earlier this spring. Cowan signed a three-year ELC on Aug. 10 and is set to play in the Memorial Cup Final with London on Sunday.
