Mitch Marner Wearing White Skates in Training as he Prepares For Huge 2024-25 Season with Maple Leafs

Auston Matthews was also spotted training in Toronto last week, along with several newly-signed players and draft picks, per Toronto Sun's Lance Hornby.

The Maple Leafs made long-term commitments to Chris Tanev and Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Is it enough to remake the look and feel of Toronto's defense?

Another Maple Leafs player has been spotted preparing for what could be a massive 2024-25 season.

Mitch Marner was seen on the ice in Vaughan, Ontario, on Tuesday with several other NHL players in a video posted to Instagram by a coach he trains with, Daniel Noble.

The 27-year-old was pictured doing a skating drill while wearing what looks to be white skates with a teal trim. Marner, who's been an NHL All-Star three times — and in back-to-back seasons — has worn white skates during two skills competitions.

During the All-Star festivities in Toronto earlier this year, he debuted skates that featured his dog, Zeus, and the city's skyline. Marner also unveiled Miami Vice-themed skates at the NHL All-Star festivities the year prior in Florida.

Marner's offseason — from the outside looking in — has been a bit of a rollercoaster. It began with speculation that he could be traded this summer, though that has since cooled with new head coach Craig Berube saying he's excited to coach the forward.

He also hosted the annual Marner All-Star Invitational in early July. The two-day event — which helps raise money for the Marner Assist Foundation — has had media in attendance each year. However, while certain media was allowed to cover the event this year, no hockey questions were permitted.

Marner is entering the final season of a six-year, $65.41 million deal he signed ahead of the 2019-20 season. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported in late June that Toronto was preparing to make an offer to the forward, but at this moment, it appears no deal has been made.

Marner had 26 goals and 59 assists in 69 games with the Maple Leafs this season. He missed a month of action late in the season after suffering a high-ankle sprain. The forward was healthy for the playoffs and scored one goal and two assists in seven games against the Boston Bruins in the first round.
