So Tuesday night's game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers will have something on the line when the two clubs meet at Amerant Bank Arena in a potential first-round playoff matchup preview.
The Maple Leafs can move no higher or lower than third place in the Atlantic Division and will visit either the Bruins or Panthers in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, depending on which team finishes in second place.
With one game remaining in their regular season. The Bruins and Panthers are both in action with Boston leading Florida by one point.

The Bruins host the Ottawa Senators.
- The Bruins defeat the Senators in any capacity,
- The Bruins lose to the Senators in overtime or a shootout AND the Panthers lose to the Maple Leafs in regulation time.
- The Panthers lose to the Maple Leafs in regulation time
- The Bruins lose to the Senators in any capacity AND the Panthers defeat the Maple Leafs in any capacity.
- The Bruins lose in regulation time AND the Panthers lose in overtime or a shootout.
The Panthers hold the tiebreaker over the Panthers by finishing the season with more regulation wins than the Bruins. Thus, they only more point than Boston to finish ahead of them in the standings.
The NHL awarded two points for a win, one point for an overtime or shootout loss and zero points for a regulation-time loss.
