The Maple Leafs have signed college free agent Jacob Quillan to an entry-level deal.

The contract is two years in length, beginning next season, with an annual average value of $875,000.

Quillan had 17 goals and 29 in 39 games this season and was one of the top college free agents available. He scored twice in Quinnipiac's final game where they lost 5-4 to Boston College on Sunday.

The 22-year-old center had the overtime-winning goal last year to secure the NCAA Championship over Matthew Knies and the University of Minnesota. He was also awarded the Frozen Four's Most Outstanding Player Award.

Quillan is a well-rounded player who has the ability to play in all situations. He's smart and is a good skater, which will bode well for the Maple Leafs in the future. Since the center signed a deal that begins next season, he's eligible to sign an amateur tryout with the Marlies for the remainder of this year.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, that appears to be the case.

The Dartmouth, Nova Scotia native was also an assistant captain with Quinnipiac this season.
