The New York Islanders forward signed a seven-year extension with the club on Saturday.
According to several reports, the deal is worth $21 million.
The longtime Maple Leafs was traded to the Islanders in February and the club aimed to shed salary cap space in the wake of some new additions to the club. He found some success with New York, scoring five goals and four assists in 18 regular season games.
The 27-year-old forward also had a goal and an assist in six playoff games with the Islanders.
The 6-foot-5 forward was a diamond in the rough in the Maple Leafs organization. Drafted by Toronto in the seventh round (188th overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft, Engvall developed into a depth NHLer.
Engvall gets some security with this deal. He'll be 34 by the time the contract expires.
