    Michael Dyck and Eric Wellwood join AHL Toronto each with head coaching experience at the junior level.

    Marlies head coach John Gruden has added two names to his coaching staff.

    Toronto announced that they've hired both Michael Dyck and Eric Wellwood as assistant coaches for the upcoming season.

    Dyck joins the Marlies after being the head coach of the WHL's Vancouver Giants for the last five seasons, posting a 144-120-17-7 record in that span. The 54-year-old also has coaching experience with the Medicine Hat Tigers, Lethbridge Hurricanes, and Kootenay Ice.

    The Lethbridge, Alberta native also won silver and gold medals with Canada's World Junior team in 2021 and 2022 as an assistant coach. He captured a gold medal at the World Championships with Team Canada in 2021 too.

    Wellwood has spent the last two seasons as head coach of the ECHL's Newfoundland Growlers where he posted a regular season record of 90-42-6-1. The 33-year-old led the team to the Eastern Conference finals in consecutive seasons.

    He has also had head coaching experience with the Flint Firebirds as well as assistant coaching experience with the Oshawa Generals and Windsor Spitfires. Wellwood was on Oshawa's coaching staff when they won both the OHL Championship and Memorial Cup in 2015.
