Toronto also signed Nolan Dillingham, a development camp invitee who levied a big hit on Roni Hirvonen.
The Marlies have signed six more players to AHL contracts.
Toronto announced on Friday that they've inked Jackson Berezowski, Brock Caufield, Neil Shea, Tate Singleton and Tyler Weiss, along with defenceman Nolan Dillingham to one-year AHL deals.
Weiss was originally drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the fourth round (109th overall) in the 2018 NHL draft. The 23-year-old has spent the last five seasons with the University of Nebraska-Omaha, scoring 116 points (28 goals, 88 assists) in 159 games.
Dillingham went undrafted and has spent the last five seasons with the OHL's Sarnia Sting. This past year, the 21-year-old was the team's captain, scoring 14 points in 45 games.
Both Weiss and Dillingham were invites to Maple Leafs development camp this summer. Dillingham, if you remember, was the player who threw the big hit on Roni Hirvonen in the scrimmage, giving him a concussion.
Caufield is the older brother of Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield. The 24-year-old has spent the last five seasons with the NCAA's University of Wisconsin. There, Caufield put up 33 goals and 41 assists over 172 games.
Berezowski has played five seasons with the WHL's Everett Silvertips, captaining the team for the past two years. The 21-year-old, in his WHL career, has 130 goals and 102 assists in 273 games. He's also the Silvertips' franchise leader in goals. Berezowski was even tied for the WHL lead with 22 power play goals this past season.
Shea spent last season with Sacred Heart University where he recorded 14 goals and 16 assists in 37 games. In doing so, he was named to the NCAA (AHA) First All-Star Team. The 23-year-old also played six games with the AHL's Chicago Wolves, scoring one goal and adding one assist.
Singleton has been with Ohio State University for the last four seasons. During that time, where he played 140 games, the 24-year-old put up 33 goals and 37 assists. This past season, Singleton had a career-high in points, scoring 11 goals and adding 16 assists in 40 games.
With all of these signings being AHL contracts, each player will only be eligible to play in the AHL for the Marlies, or with the ECHL's Newfoundland Growlers.
