BREAKING NEWS: The Utah Mammoth have placed goaltender Connor Ingram on waivers.

Ingram, 28, was recently cleared by the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program to return to the NHL. Ahead of the start of the Mammoth's training camp, the team released a statement saying Ingram was not taking part.

The plan all along was to help him find a new home in the NHL, whether that came through a trade or waivers. Now, we know he has been placed on waivers and could have a new team within 24 hours. The other 31 NHL clubs have until tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. EST to put in a claim.

Mammoth general manager Bill Armstrong spoke when they announced he wouldn’t be taking part in training camp and had this to say:

“We’ll at some point in time put him through waivers, and through that process, he will either get a chance to play for another NHL team, or he will go to an [American Hockey League] team,” Armstrong said. “But at the end of the day, he will be playing, and that's what we're so excited for.”

Ingram won the Masterton Trophy, which recognizes the player who best exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey, during the 2023-24 season. He has now been part of the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program twice in his career — once to help him with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and most recently following the death of his mother.

This is great news for Ingram, who will either have a new home in the NHL or report to the AHL with the Tucson Roadrunners and be back to playing hockey.
