Yesterday, Team USA faced off against Team Czechia in the final game of the round robin at the 2025 IIHF World Championship—and thanks to a big night from Utah Mammoth players, they came away with the win.

That’s right, Utah’s very own Logan Cooley, Clayton Keller, and Josh Doan stole the show, helping Team USA secure a victory that locked them into second place in Pool B.

It started with Doan, who scored his first goal of the tournament to give the Americans a 1-0 lead in the first period.

Then in the third, Keller and Cooley added to the scoresheet. Keller set up Cooley’s fourth goal of the tournament, giving the U.S. a key insurance marker to go up 4-2.

Unfortunately, Michael Kesselring didn’t register a point—had he done so, all four Mammoth players on Team USA would have hit the scoresheet. It would’ve made for an interesting storyline too, considering Czechia’s goalie was none other than Karel Vejmelka.

If the trio of Utah forwards can keep this up and continue using their chemistry to generate offense, there’s a real chance Team USA could make a run to the final. And who knows, maybe we’ll get a showdown against their longtime rival, Team Canada—who happens to have Barrett Hayton in their lineup.

The tournament now moves into the medal round, starting with the quarterfinals on Thursday, May 22. USA will face Finland, Canada draws Denmark, and Czechia will meet Sweden.

Keep it locked here for all the updates on how the Mammoth players are performing as the quarterfinals get underway.
