Late yesterday, the Utah Mammoth made a major announcement in partnership with the Utah Jazz.
Together, the two teams will be hosting 3v3 basketball and ball hockey tournaments designed to engage the local community and grow both sports in Utah.
Mammoth Ball Hockey Tournament Details
The Utah Mammoth Ball Hockey Tournaments will be hosted by the team and include a variety of age groups. Divisions will include 10U for boys, 12U and 18U for both boys and girls, as well as an adult division for players 17 and older.
There will be multiple skill levels—beginner, recreational, and competitive—ensuring that players of all experience levels have a chance to participate.
Each team must have between five and seven players, with a registration cost of $200 per team. The winning team in each division will receive tickets to the Mammoth’s 2025-26 home opener and get the opportunity to meet Utah players in a post-tournament meet-and-greet.
Jazz Basketball Tournament Details
The Jazz tournament will feature a similar structure but is focused on basketball. It includes 30 different divisions, ranging from age-specific groups like 30U and 31+, to more unique categories like a men’s under-six-feet division.
Each team will consist of three to five players, and games will be played half-court with a 20-minute clock. Registration costs $175 per team. Winners in each division will earn tickets to a 2025-26 Jazz home game and a meet-and-greet with Jazz players.
Should Utah Mammoth Be Aggressive in Pursuing Mitch Marner?
The Toronto Maple Leafs have found themselves in a very similar position, with its recent 6-1 blowout loss to the Florida Panthers: leaving the playoffs empty handed.
This is a big step forward for both basketball and hockey in Utah. While the Mammoth tournament is ball hockey and not ice, it’s a great way to get kids interested in the sport and start building a lifelong connection to the game.
This is exactly how you grow hockey in a non-traditional market. With the Mammoth heading into their second season, it’s great to see Ryan Smith and his ownership group using both of their teams to promote their sports and connect with the community.
