Canucks Comeback Falls Short In Overtime Loss To The Coyotes

In what may have been their last time ever facing the Arizona Coyotes (34-40-5), the Vancouver Canucks (48-22-9) 4-3 in overtime. The Canucks received goals from J.T. Miller, Conor Garland and Elias Pettersson, while Arturs Silovs made 14 saves in the loss. By picking up a point, Vancouver hits the 105-point for the fourth time in franchise history, tying the 2006-07 for third all-time.

The biggest issue for the Canucks was hitting the net. Forty-nine of Vancouver's shots were either blocked or missed, with the Canucks only recording 26 shots on the night. While it was good they fought back and were able to tie the game, the overall execution in the offensive zone was problematic and a big reason why they lost in overtime.

    Quotes

Carson Soucy on Elias Lindholm's return to the lineup:

"He's just so solid, faceoffs, defensively. Just in the first period, I was out there with him a couple of times. He kind of just picks the guy's pocket and breaks the puck out. It's nice to have him back.

Elias Lindholm on playing the penalty kill with Teddy Blueger:

"I think pretty good. He had a breakaway there, a good chance, and I thought we put some good pressure on them. So yeah, it was good."

Rick Tocchet on the Canucks inability to get shots on the net:

"We made a push at the end. I think we had 79 attempts at the net and 29 missed shots. Just too many missed shots. I didn't think we went to the net in the first two periods. Third period, we had urgency. That's what I thought tonight.

Rick Tocchet on the penalties his team took:

"Sometimes, calls aren't gonna go your way, and you got to be really disciplined. I'm not going to comment on the refs but sometimes it's not going to go your way. You can't kill three or four penalties in a row. It's tough, especially when you're down."
