The Canucks are 0-2 versus the Avalanche this season.

For the only time during the regular season, the Vancouver Canucks (24-17-7) welcome the Colorado Avalanche (41-20-5) to Rogers Arena. Both teams come into this game having won four straight and are fighting for the top spot in the Western Conference. A matchup featuring two of the highest-scoring teams in the NHL, this game should feature fast-paced play and plenty of scoring chances.

The key to success for Vancouver will be clogging up the middle and forcing the Avalanche to play along the wall in the offensive zone. They have done a great job of limiting their opposition's chances during the last four games and will need to continue that trend if they want to extend their winning streak. It will be a tough test, but one that will show whether or not the Canucks can compete with a potential playoff opponent.

Players to Watch

Quinn Hughes

Skating in his 350th career game, this is an excellent opportunity for Quinn Hughes to solidify himself as this year's Norris Trophy favourite. Vancouver's captain has already tied his career high in points and will set the new single-season franchise record for points by a defenceman in a season with one tonight. Currently on a four-game point streak, expect Hughes to step up and lead by example versus Colorado.

Cale Makar

The Canucks need to find a way to shut down Cale Makar, plain and simple. The Avalanche defender is coming off his first career hat trick and has feasted against Vancouver with 12 points in eight career games. Whether it is on the power play or at even strength, he is a game-breaker who can change the momentum of a game in an instant.
