Lineup Notes: Rossi Returns To The Lineup As Canucks Battle The Red Wings

The Vancouver Canucks are back in action on Thursday as they battle the Detroit Red Wings. Vancouver enters Thursday's matchup having lost eight straight, with only one of those defeats coming in overtime. Here are the lineup notes for October 22, 2026.

The Canucks will be getting a big boost on Thursday as Marco Rossi is projected to return to the lineup. The 25-year-old has missed the last two games with an illness. So far this season, Rossi has scored once while recording four points in nine games.

Rossi's return means Manny Malhotra will have his top-three centers in the lineup for just the second time this year. That brings more balance down the center of the ice, as players will not have to play out of position. The only game in which Rossi, Elias Pettersson, and Filip Chytil all played was last week against the Florida Panthers.

Vancouver's projected goaltender against the Red Wings is Kevin Lankinen. The 31-year-old has had a rough start to the season, which has included posting a save percentage of .807 through seven games. Over his career, Lankinen is 5-4-1 against Detroit with a .913 save percentage.
