A look at some of the analytics from the Vancouver Canucks 2-0 win over the Boston Bruins.

Welcome to this edition of the Vancouver Canucks post-game analytics report. This recurring deep dive breaks down the analytics behind each Canucks game as recorded by Natural Stat Trick. In this article, we look back on Vancouver's most recent 2-0 victory over the Boston Bruins.

Despite defeating the Bruins 2-0, Boston was the far better team from an analytics perspective. The Canucks lost the even-strength scoring chances battle 29-8 while registering just one even-strength high-danger chance compared to the Bruins' 15. In the end, the analytics show just how sensational Kevin Lankinen was as he carried the team to a win.

The heatmap illustrates how inefficient Vancouver was in the offensive zone. They generated just 15 shots total and created no offence from the middle of the ice. While they did win, this "Park The Bus" style of play is not something that can be replicated with success moving forward.

Since the Canucks were heavily outshot, the individual analytics from this game were not great. That being said, one player who did stand out was, unsurprisingly, Quinn Hughes. Vancouver's captain was the only player on the roster who finished at 50% or above in even-strength SF% while also recording an assist on the game-winner. Leading the team with 21:04 of even-strength ice time, it was another impressive performance for the reigning Norris Trophy winner.

Lastly, Jake DeBrusk had a strong game in his return to TD Garden. He scored the game-winning goal, recorded one of the Canucks two high-danger chances and was tied for the team lead with three shots on goal. Ultimately, it was a solid return for DeBrusk, highlighted, of course, by a win against his former team.
