Coming out of the 4 Nations Faceoff break, the Vancouver Canucks were tasked with keeping their spot in the playoffs as the team holding the second wild card spot. However, since then, a 10-straight win performance by the St. Louis Blues has helped knock them out of postseason contention this year. St. Louis is not the only team to have won 10 straight in the closing games of the season — down in the Fraser Valley, Manny Malhotra and the Abbotsford Canucks have also gone on a heater, winning all of their games since March 7. Last night, they clinched a playoff spot in a 6–3 win against the San Diego Gulls. Let’s take a look at the 11 players who have shared time between Vancouver and Abbotsford this season.

Nils Åman

Åman has had a career-high season with Abbotsford this year, putting up seven goals and 23 assists in 36 games played. His previous career high was 15 points in 15 games, a record he hit last season. This year, Åman has engaged in brief stints with Vancouver, with his longest being his current stretch of 10 games. His 18 NHL games played this season are the lowest he has registered since joining the Canucks in 2022–23.

Arshdeep Bains

Bains made his NHL debut last February against the Colorado Avalanche, but scored his first NHL goal this October in a 4–3 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He has played 13 games for Vancouver this season, with his last game being a 6–3 loss on March 1 against the Seattle Kraken. In his 44 games with Abbotsford so far, Bains is the team’s second-highest scorer, tallying 10 goals and 28 assists.

Guillaume Brisebois

Brisebois, the second longest-tenured Canuck on the team, always ends up making an appearance on Vancouver’s lineup when injuries come knocking. He joined Vancouver for three games this season — a 4–3 win against the Kraken, a 3–0 loss to the Nashville Predators, and a 3–0 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Brisebois’ 41 games played with the Canucks’ AHL affiliate team this season are the most he has played in a season since Abbotsford’s inaugural season in 2021–22. This season, he has two goals and two assists with Abbotsford.

Phil Di Giuseppe

A consistent depth player, Di Giuseppe played the entire 2023–24 regular season with Vancouver, putting up five goals and five assists in 51 games as well as a goal and an assist during the playoffs. He has played 20 games for Vancouver in 2024–25, scoring his first goal of the season against the Buffalo Sabres on January 21. In the 15 games he has played with Abbotsford, Di Giuseppe has three goals and two assists.

Linus Karlsson

Karlsson has had an impressive personal season. He made his season debut with Vancouver on December 19 against the Vegas Golden Knights, scored his first NHL goal on January 29 against the Predators, and set a franchise-high in Abbotsford with the most career goals scored. While he is currently playing with Vancouver, he has been playing at over a point per game pace in Abbotsford with 34 in 30 games.

Jonathan Lekkerimäki

One of the most-anticipated Vancouver prospect debuts occurred this season when Lekkerimäki took to the ice on November 12 in a 3–1 win against the Calgary Flames. It didn’t take him much longer to score his first career NHL goal either, as he tucked one past Semyon Varlamov the game after in a 5–2 loss to the New York Islanders. He has three goals and two assists in 22 games played with Vancouver, and 19 goals and nine assists in 32 games played with Abbotsford.

Victor Mancini

Mancini has a small sample size with the Canucks organization, having only played 14 games with Vancouver and Abbotsford combined. While he was acquired on January 31 as part of the J.T. Miller trade, he didn’t make his debut with Vancouver until February 23 against Utah Hockey Club. He tallied his first point with Vancouver on March 12 against the Flames, and has since added another one against his former team. His lone assist with Abbotsford came against the Colorado Eagles on February 15.

Elias Pettersson (D)

Pettersson’s NHL debut marked the start of what would become a somewhat confusing name saga between himself, Elias Pettersson, and Marcus Pettersson. He played his first NHL game on January 25 against the Washington Capitals, and grabbed his first NHL point two games after in a 3–2 overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings. Since then, Pettersson has remained in Vancouver’s lineup relatively consistently, allowing the team to move on from Carson Soucy. Initially, he was also poised to represent Abbotsford at the AHL All-star classic, but was replaced by Ty Mueller after remaining on Vancouver’s roster. This is Pettersson’s second season with Abbotsford, in which he has 13 points in 38 games played, but with how he has played in Vancouver, it wouldn’t be surprising if it ends up being his last.

Aatu Räty

Räty started the season with Vancouver but was sent back to Abbostford within three games. He had a strong training camp, which made many believe he could push for a full-time spot on Vancouver’s lineup this season, but ultimately ended up back on Abbotsford, where he put up a team-leading 39 points in 41 games played. Räty has been a consistent call-up for Vancouver in 2024–25, as he has played 25 games with the big club. He has particularly impressed in his past five games, during which he has scored two goals and one assist, as well as put up a team-high faceoff win percentage of 60.32%.

Max Sasson

Sasson had an early stretch of games with Vancouver, playing consistently from November 23 to January 27. During this time he scored his first NHL goal, on December 14 against the Boston Bruins, and added another five points onto that in 24 games played. Since returning to Abbotsford, Sasson has tallied 18 points in 23 games. In his past six games with Abbotsford, he has two goals and five assists.

Artūts Šilovs

Last year’s playoff hero came into the 2024–25 season with no solid starting role, as Thatcher Demko was still out due to injury and the team didn’t know what to expect from new signing Kevin Lankinen. Lankinen ultimately ended up with the starting role in Vancouver, pushing Šilovs down to Abbotsford once Demko made his season debut. In a season that has had him come back up to Vancouver on multiple occasions, Šilovs has posted an .861 SV% and a GAA of 3.65. Currently, Šilovs is back with Abbotsford, most recently making 12 stops in the team’s 2–1 win against the Bakersfield Condors. Throughout the season, he has collected 12 wins and lost four, posting a team-low 2.44 GAA.
