Elias Pettersson could soon find his name in the Vancouver Canucks' record book.

Elias Pettersson is closing in on a Vancouver Canucks single-season franchise record. The 27-year-old center has recorded 81 blocked shots in 48 games and is on pace to shatter the franchise record for blocked shots by a forward in a single season. The current record is held by Nick Bonino, who recorded 90 during the 2014-15 campaign.

As for the all-time record for blocked shots by a forward in a single season, that is another record Pettersson could set this season. The current record is held by Alex Tuch, who recorded 113 during the 2024-25 campaign. Since the stat started being tracked in the 2005-06 season, only 10 forwards have recorded over 100 blocked shots, which includes current Canucks GM Ryan Johnson, who recorded 105 during the 2007-08 season.

Pettersson already ranks top 10 for blocked shots in franchise history. In 519 games, he has blocked 460 shots, which ranks ninth. As for forward, only Ryan Kesler ranks ahead of Pettersson in franchise history, with the former Selke winner recording 525 blocked shots in 655 games.
