Lekkerimäki's Örebro HK lost their three-game series to Luleå HF in the SHL Eighth-finals.

Vancouver Canucks prospect Jonathan Lekkerimäki's SHL season has officially come to an end. The 2022 first-round pick was playing with Örebro HK, who lost their best of three Eighth-finals series to Luleå HF after suffering a 1-0 overtime loss in game three. Over the three games, Lekkerimäki finished with one assist while leading his team with six shots on goal.

Lekkerimäki was a star this season, showing why the Canucks jumped at the opportunity of drafting him 15th overall in 2022. The 19-year-old led all U23 SHL players with 19 goals and 31 points while averaging 16:22 during the regular season. He was also tied for the team lead in shots with 101 while ranking third in the SHL with seven game-winning goals.

With his season complete, there are two options for Lekkerimäki. As he is signed, he could come and play a few games for the Abbotsford Canucks, or potentially participate for Team Sweden in this year's World Championship set to kick off on May 10 in Czechia. Expected to be a big part of Abbotsford's team next season, it is safe to say he is living up to expectations and will have plenty of hype surrounding him heading into the 2024-25 campaign.
