Rick Tocchet has been nominated for the 2024 Jack Adams Award. While he has stiff competition from Rick Bowness and Andrew Brunette, the Vancouver Canucks coach is the favourite to win this year's award. The Jack Adams Award is given annually to the top coach in the NHL and is voted on by the National Broadcasters' Association.

Since joining the Canucks late in the 2022-23 season, Tocchet has transformed the organization from a playoff hopeful to a contender. This season, Vancouver won their first-ever Pacific Division title with a record of 50-23-9 while seeing a 26-point increase from 2022-23. The Canucks also finished top six in goals against per game and goals for per game, showing just how strong Tocchet's system was at both ends of the ice.

If Tocchet wins, he will join an elite company by becoming the third coach in franchise history to win the award. The other two were Pat Quinn in 1992 and Alain Vigneault in 2007. Bob McCammon was also nominated in 1989 but finished second in voting that season.

Tocchet will be joined at this year's NHL Awards by two of his players. Thatcher Demko was nominated for the Vezina, while Quinn Hughes is the favourite to win this year's Norris Trophy. So far, no date or location has been announced for this year's NHL Awards
