Vancouver Canucks winger Brock Boeser was forced out of last season's playoff run with a blood clotting issue in his leg. Boeser spoke at the 40th annual Jake Milford Charity Classic.

Boeser's injury was a brutal blow to the Canucks. His goalscoring prowess was missed in the second-round series against the Edmonton Oilers. Today marks the first time he's spoken since his exit interview.

He told reporters he is off his blood thinning medication and has resumed contact training.

Boeser's issue is severe, and his career could end if not dealt with properly. Although rare, blood clotting issues have occasionally popped up in the NHL. Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen was one of the most recent players to go through a similar situation.

Superstar Steven Stamkos has also dealt with a blood clotting issue in his career.

Last season's leading goalscorer has a big year ahead of him as he enters the last year of his contract. Boeser is staring unrestricted free agency in the face and told reporters that the blood clot has made this season an even bigger year to prove he can perform at the same 40-goal level.

There haven't been any reports of him possibly missing training camp, but there was some uncertainty given the lack of information until now. Boeser's attendance at training camp is still unconfirmed, but today's update is promising.
