While France does not have a long list of current and former NHLers, two have connections with the Vancouver Canucks. While they played in different eras, both played over 150 games in the NHL and represented France at multiple international tournaments. In honour of the 2024 Summer Olympics currently being hosted by Paris, here is a look at the two players in Canucks history who played for France internationally.

In 1973, Vancouver used its second pick to select forward Paulin Bordeleau. While Bordeleau was born in Quebec, he represented France multiple times, including at the 1988 Winter Olympics. While his career with the Canucks was short, lasting only 183 games, he is the answer to a trivia question as Bordeleau was the first player in franchise history to score a playoff goal.

The more familiar name of the two is Antoine Roussel who played for Vancouver from 2018-21. Born in Roubaix, France, Roussel played 141 games for the Canucks and was part of the 2020 playoff team that made it to Game 7 of the second round. Roussel, who represented his country at multiple World Championships and an Olympic Games qualifying tournament, Roussel is France's all-time NHL points leader with 197 and is one of two players (Pierre-Edouard Bellemare) to have played in over 600 games.
