Newest WHL Franchise In Chilliwack To Be Led By Two Former Canucks

The WHL is officially returning to Chilliwack. On Wednesday, the WHL announced that the league's newest franchise will celebrate their inaugural season in 2027-28. The league also announced Chilliwack's ownership group, which features two former Vancouver Canucks.

Leading the way as Governor, General Manager, and Head Coach is Jeremy Colliton. The 41-year-old spent two seasons as the Abbotsford Canucks Head Coach from 2022-24. Some notable players who played under Colliton while he was with the franchise include Guillaume Brisebois, Arshdeep Bains, Linus Karlsson, Max Sasson and defenceman Elias Pettersson.

As for the other Canucks connection, Mason Raymond will be part of the ownership group. The 41-year-old played 374 games with Vancouver, where he recorded 178 points. The other members of Chilliwack's ownership group include Brett Motherwell, Mario Amantea, and Patrick Lathrop.

Chilliwack will be playing out of the Chilliwack Coliseum. The arena currently has a capacity of 5,000, but according to the WHL, upgrades are planned for the facility. Chilliwack last had a team in 2010-11 before the franchise was relocated to Victoria.
