Leon Draisaitl listed the Vancouver Canucks as the Edmonton Oilers biggest rival.

It appears that the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers rivalry is alive and well heading into the 2024-25 season. In a recent clip posted by Sportsnet, Oilers Leon Draisatil listed the Canucks when asked who they think is their team's biggest rival. The feeling seems to be mutual, as Vancouver's captain, Quinn Hughes, chose Edmonton. Of note, when Connor McDavid was asked, he did not select the Canucks or even the Calgary Flames, choosing the L.A. Kings instead.

Last season, the two met in the second round, with the Oilers narrowly defeating Vancouver 3-2 in Game 7. Edmonton would go on to lose in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, falling 2-1 to the Florida Panthers.
The first meeting between the Canucks and Oilers is scheduled for November 9 at Rogers Arena. The two rivals won't play again until January when they meet twice in five days. According to BETMGM, Edmonton has the best odds to win the Pacific Division during the 2024-25 season at 2.05, while Vancouver is ranked third at 5.50.
