Ahead of the Vancouver Canucks' matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers tonight, Head Coach Adam Foote dropped some surprising news about one of the team's defencemen, according to Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650. The injury report indicates that while Teddy Blueger may still have a couple of weeks to go before returning, there's a chance defenceman Derek Forbort may not play again for the rest of the year.
"I don't know what's going to happen with him," Foote said in a pre-game media availability. "I try to tell him 'when it turns, it turns the right way', right? He's still working on it."
Forbort has been out of Vancouver's lineup since taking a maintenance day after the team's 3-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on October 11. He skated in two games, starting the season with the Canucks on October 9 at home against the Calgary Flames. On October 28, he was moved to LTIR.
Vancouver's D-core has been through many changes so far this season. Zeev Buium joined the lineup only a couple of weeks ago in place of the departing Quinn Hughes, while injuries brought Tom Willander up to the NHL in his first pro season.
Vancouver will skate in its final game of the calendar year tonight, taking on former Canucks Head Coach Rick Tocchet and the Philadelphia Flyers on home-ice.
