Sportsnet 650 has been shut down.

Some significant news in the Vancouver sports world, as Sportsnet 650 has been shut down. The initial report was courtesy of Jonah Sigel, who posted the news on "X". Sportsnet 650 is owned by Rogers Media, which on July 6, 2026, finalized a deal to become the sole owner of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment.

Sportsnet 650 was the latest full-time sports radio channel in Vancouver. Rogers Media purchased the station in 2017, with 650 serving as the home of the Vancouver Canucks for close to a decade. Sportsnet 650 was also the home of the Vancouver Giants and Toronto Blue Jays.

In a statement received by Daily Hive, a Rogers Sports & Media spokesperson wrote, "After a thorough review of our radio stations across the country, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to close Sportsnet 650 and News 1130 in Vancouver. We are grateful to our listeners and to our team for their contributions to the local community." As for future Canucks games, they will be broadcast on a different Rogers Sports & Media-owned station.
