Sheldon Dries made history for the Abbotsford Canucks last night as he became the first player to score 100 points for the team in history.
Dries scored one goal and added an assist to give him 100 career points across three seasons with Abbotsford. This season, he has 18 goals and 16 assists for 34 points. His accomplishment is even more impressive when adding in his 2022-23 season, where he played just two games and scored four points. He has played 91 career games for Abbotsford.
This is the third season in Abbotsford for the Vancouver Canucks AHL affiliate, and it is safe to say that move has been beneficial for both sides. Players can now be called up with no delay given the two teams' proximity.
Players like Jett Woo, Arshdeep Bains, and Vasily Podkolzin can join the NHL club quickly. Podkilzin earned his first call up to the NHL this season yesterday. The team also recalled veteran defenseman Matt Irwin.
Dries and the Abbotsford Canucks continue to push for a higher seed in the postseason as they sit in 4th place in the Pacific Divison.
The Canucks take on the Ontario Reign tonight.
