Vancouver Canucks center Elias Pettersson has signed an 8-year contract extension!
Pettersson's cap hit will be $11.6 million.
From rumors about a possible trade with the Carolina Hurricanes to possibly not wanting to sign in long-term in Vancouver to making progress on an extension, GM Patrik Allvin got his guy.
Pettersson is 24-years-old and has 398 points (165 goals, 233 assists) in 387 games with the Canucks. He was drafted No. 5 overall in 2017 and was seen as the team's future No. 1 center.
Pettersson has delivered on that hope and then some. At such a young age and with the salary cap going up next season, Pettersson will continue to get better and be a critical piece in the Canucks success both now and in the future.
