After flying with the team to Nashville, Thatcher Demko was seen on the ice after morning skate on Friday. This is the second consecutive day Demko has been on the ice but has yet to participate in a full practice. The Vancouver Canucks goaltender hasn't played since Game 1 on April 21, where he suffered a lower-body injury. Demko also missed significant time with a knee injury this year, which kept him out for 14 games late in the season.
When asked about Demko, Rick Tocchet said that he was progressing but would not provide a timeline. Demko is reportedly dealing with an ACL injury, but the exact injury has yet to be confirmed by the organization. Depending on the severity, goaltenders can play through ACL injuries, but it may cause significant issues in the future.
One way the Canucks can help Demko is by beating the Nashville Predators in Game 6. The hope is if Vancouver can go on a long run, Demko may be able to return before the postseason is complete. Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at 4:00 pm PT, while a win would send Vancouver to the second round for a matchup against the Edmonton Oilers.
