The Vancouver Canucks are expected to be without No. 1 goalie Thatcher Demko for the short term due to an injury.

The hope is that he will miss less than a month.

The Canucks will likely call up Arturs Silovs from the Abbotsford Canucks. Silovs has been solid in the AHL, with a record 15-11-6, .907 save %, and a 2.74GAA. The 22-year-old has minimal NHL experience. In five games, however, he has three wins with a .908 save %.

His first NHL win came against the Philadelphia Flyers last season. On February 18, 2023, he stopped 35 shots to earn a 6-2 win.

Casey DeSmith should shoulder the brunt of the workload. He's been a solid backup for Demko, winning eight out of 19 games. Against the Anaheim Ducks, he stopped 17 shots in their 2-1 win.

The Canucks are in a good spot within the division, as they have a ten-point lead over the Edmonton Oilers.

The Cancuks don't have practice until tomorrow, and their next game is on Wednesday against the Colorado Avalanche.
