Sawyer Mynio and Anthony Romani will represent Team Canada at this year's World Junior Summer Showcase.
Team Canada has announced their roster for the upcoming World Junior Summer Showcase, with two Vancouver Canucks prospects set to attend. 2023 third-round pick Sawyer Mynio, as well as 2024 sixth-round pick Anthony Romani, will be headed to Plymouth, Michigan, later this month to compete in the tournament. Two other Canucks prospects will also be at the event, with Tom Willander and Melvin Fernström both set to represent Team Sweden.
Mynio had a breakout season with the Seattle Thunderbirds in 2023-24. Averaging 27 minutes a night, the left-shot defenceman posted career highs in goals (16), assists (37) and points (53). Mynio also made his AHL debut last season, playing one game for the Abbotsford Canucks in April.
As for Romani, he had a year to remember, leading the OHL in goals with 58 and finishing second in points with 111. Averaging just under 20 minutes a night, the North Bay Battalion was voted the Eastern Conference Smartest Player and Most Dangerous In Goal Area during the annual OHL coaches poll. Now entering his fourth year with the Battalion, Romani is 71 points away from becoming the franchise all-time points leader.
Team Canada will host an intrasquad game in Windsor on July 30 before making their way to Michigan for the tournament. Canada's first scheduled game will be against Team Sweden on July 31, with puck drop scheduled for 4:30 pm PT.
Team Canada's Schedule:
July 31- Canada vs Sweden @ 4:30 pm PT
August 2- Canada vs Finland @ 10:00 am PT
August 3- Canada vs USA @ 1:00 pm PT
