Anson Carter played one season with the Vancouver Canucks, recording 55 points in 81 games.
Former Vancouver Canucks forward Anson Carter has received a prestigious honour from his Alma Mater. Carter was one of six former Michigan State athletes to be inducted into the Michigan State Athletics Hall of Fame. The induction will take place on September 13, while a special recognition will occur during the Michigan State-Prairie View A&M football game at Spartan Stadium on September 14.
While Carter only spent one season with the Canucks, it was a memorable one. During the 2005-06 season, Carter played on a line with Henrik and Daniel Sedin, recording a career-high 33 goals while hitting the 55-point plateau for the third time in his career. Carter would play for eight teams over his ten-year NHL career, recording over 200 goals and 400 points in 674 games.
Before making the jump to the NHL, Carter was a star at Michigan State. He was a Hobey Baker Finalist in 1995 and won World Juniors Gold with Canada in 1994. At the end of his NCAA career, Carter had 178 points in 156 games, which ranks 22nd in the school's history.
As for where Carter is today, he is a minority owner of the ECHL's Atlanta Gladiators. He is also part of Alpharetta Sports & Entertainment Group, which is trying to bring the NHL back to Atlanta. Cater is also a broadcaster and appears on both TNT in the U.S. and Sportsnet in Canada.
