Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin announced Monday that they have released forward Sammy Blais from his PTO. Blais played in all four of Vancouver's pre-season games but failed to hit the scoresheet while recording a plus/minus of -3. Blais also recorded three shots on goal and played a physical game, especially on the forecheck.

Blais is still with the organization for now, as he did sign a contract with the Abbotsford Canucks. One of the most experienced players on the team, the 28-year-old should play a significant role this year if another NHL team does not sign him before the start of the season. Abbotsford kicks off its 2024 Training Camp on Wednesday, with all practices open to the public.

A Stanley Cup Champion with the St. Louis Blues, Blais has played in 257 regular season games in his NHL career. Known for his physicality, he has recorded 835 career hits, eclipsing the 200-hit mark in a season once. Blais has also recorded 71 points during his NHL career, with an additional eight coming in 27 postseason games.
