Vegas captain sustains an upper-body injury and left game after second period.
The Vegas Golden Knights lost 5-3 to the Nashville Predators at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday, but the bigger news is that the team captain Mark Stone sustained an upper-body injury.
Stone took a bit hit in the second period and finished it before not returning for the game.
“I got nothing on the report,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “I didn't see him after, but I didn't look for him to be honest with you. I was going through some other stuff. I’ll check in on him when I get back in there. Hopefully we'll have news for you.”
Adin Hill made 35 saves, but was shaky early. Alex Pietrangelo, William Karlsson, and Michael Amadio all scored, while Alec Martinez tallied two assists.
Ultimately, what sunk Vegas was allowing Nashville to build a 4-1 lead in the second period. The Predators scored three straight, and despite late pressure from Vegas, ended up holding on with the victory.
“If you look at the game, it was their depth guys that scored, and it wasn’t (Ryan O’Reilly’s) line that beat us tonight,” Cassidy said. “Their depth guys, I thought, were a little better in our depth guys. The middle of the pack guys. One goal better at the end with (goalies), and that was the end result.”
Vegas returns to the ice on Thursday to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at T-Mobile Arena.
