Logan Thompson made 30 saves and Jonathan Marchessault scored in overtime to give the Vegas Golden Knights a 2-1 victory against the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center on Monday.
Marchessault scored 49 seconds into the overtime period for his team-best 39th goal, helping improve Vegas to 39-25-7 on the season. More importantly, however, the Golden Knights increased their lead for the second wild-card spot to five points with 11 games remaining.
Pavel Dorofeyev also scored for Vegas. He opened the scoring at 5:59 of the first period. The Blues tied the game late in the third period.
Thompson made 13 saves in the third period and also stopped a penalty shot in overtime to help propel the Golden Knights to the victory.
Vegas continues its road trip Tuesday against Nashville.
