It took a 2025 first-round pick and their top prospect David Edstrom to acquire him and now finally they'll get to see him play in a Golden Knights uniform.
He last played on Jan. 27 and has only played in 48 games this season, but Hertl can be a difference-maker for the Golden Knights. Playmaking and offensive creativity are two traits that Hertl will bring to the lineup.
Each of the final six games are important for the Golden Knights, something that should bode well for Hertl. He'll play in meaningful games which will help him ramp up before the playoffs begin.
The Czech forward is a centre but skated on the wing with Chandler Stephenson and Michael Amadio at practice. HC Bruce Cassidy explained the decision to pair him with Stephenson and Amadio.
"He's going to play his game," said Cassidy. "He's a puck possession guy down low so I think he'll help with that presence for Amadio and Stephenson. We will probably end out sorting who is going to play centre more than wing, right now tomorrow as it starts it will be Hertl on the wing and Stephenson at centre but that could change in game".
Cassidy also mentioned that Hertl will be on a power play unit and could find himself on the top unit as the net-front presence.
Hertl spoke about wearing a Golden Knights jersey:
"I think it looks good. Hopefully it'll look good on me and I can do some good things. Hopefully I can do some good things and help the team win games".
The 30-year-old has six more years on his contract after this season and will be a Golden Knight for a long time.
