Forward recalled on Saturday, will make NHL debut on Monday.

Brendan Brisson understood that he was going to start the season with the Henderson Silver Knights with the intent of shoring up the little details in his game to make him ready to be an NHL player.
“I know when I get my call up. I’ll be ready,” Brisson said on Thursday. “We've been just working on the little things so when I do get the chance, So I can go up there produce and play well. So that's been good process.”
The time is now for Brisson, who was recalled from Henderson on Saturday with the intent of playing him in Monday’s game against the Nashville Predators.
He has 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) in 37 games with the Silver Knights, but the offensive production isn’t what he’s been focusing on while he’s been in Henderson.
It’s the thing that don’t stick out on the scoresheet that he’s been working on, such as his play away from the puck, defensive zone coverages, wall play and how to be a better forechecker.
So far, Brisson is confident in the improvements he’s made thus far.
“I like my game away from the puck, D-zone, wall play, forecheck all that stuff,” Brisson said. “What they wanted me to work on. Just keep doing that. Keep trusting the system in a game.”
Brisson got the call following the Silver Knights 7-0 loss on Saturday. He spent most of the night trying to sleep, keeping the news to himself until the morning when he woke up his mother to tell her the good news.
“For ‘Bris’ and all of our guys here, we want them to be ready to go at any time,” Henderson coach Ryan Craig said. “That means taking care of yourself. Having good habits. Managing your sleep and preparation on and off the ice, which is important. So when you get the call, whether it be at four in the afternoon or two in the morning, you’ll be ready to go and put your best foot forward.”
He will play alongside Paul Cotter and Michael Amadio on the team’s third line and will be a presence on the team’s second power-play unit.
“He's really skilled player,” Amadio said. “[I told him to focus on] just winning your one-on-one battles and everything else will come along with it.”
For Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy, it’s an opportunity to look at one of the future prospects for the Golden Knights and see his development since the preseason.
“He showed himself well in terms of finishing some plays,” Cassidy said. “His game has grown away from the puck, how he can impact the game without it in terms of puck pursuits and second efforts and those types of things.”
Now that the seal is broken and Brisson plans on working to not only debut in the NHL, but remain a consistent force.
He also understands the difficulty in the task.
“It only gets harder,” Brisson said.
