Vegas Golden Knights forwards Mark Stone and Brett Howden were absent from today's practice ahead of their game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Stone exited Tuesday's game against the Nashville Predators with an upper-body injury. Stone leads the team in points with 53 this season. The initial reports were that the Golden Knights captain was going to miss some time and it has been proven by the Golden Knights placing him on the injured reserve.
General Manager Kelly McCrimmon was on The Sick Podcast - The Eye Test and said that Stone would be out for a while. Jack Eichel was placed on the LTIR after Shea Theodore was taken off but McCrimmon said that Eichel and William Carrier are getting closer to returning.
It's yet to be determined if Stone will end up on the LTIR.
Howden was also absent from practice today. Howden has played in 54 of the team's 56 games this season. Howden has five goals and 13 points. In response to this, the Golden Knights assigned Grigori Denisenko to the Henderson Silver Knights and recalled Brendan Brisson, Byron Froese, and Sheldon Rempal.
The Golden Knights have lost three straight games on home ice and are welcoming in a Maple Leafs team that has won five in a row and are inserting their number one defenseman Morgan Rielly back into their lineup. The Golden Knights have become very thin up front and are going to need to rely on their goaltending and defence to get back into the win column.
