New York Rangers Captain Jacob Trouba has been suspended for two games after elbowing Vegas Golden Knights winger, Pavel Dorofeyev.
During Friday night's game in Madison Square Garden Trouba caught Dorofeyev up high with an elbow following a face-off.
The Golden Knights were up 3-1 on the Rangers with just under two minutes left in the second period. An unnecessary hit by Trouba is now leading to his second career suspension. Trouba plays a physical game but the Department of Player Safety deemed Trouba to not be making a play on the puck while his elbowing motion was not viewed as a natural motion while skating.
Dorofeyev is listed as day-to-day and his availability for tonight's game is still up in the air. The Golden Knights will be in Detroit to close out their four-game road trip.
Dorofeyev has been playing in the top six for the Golden Knights and has seven goals and 14 points in 29 games this season. The Golden Knights can't afford any more long-term injuries.
