Calgary defensemen Daniil Miromanov and Brayden Pachal are both looking for the opportunity to play against the Vegas Golden Knights.
It will be the first time for either player to play against their former team.
“I’m so excited. It’s going to be a fun game for sure. I know the guys really well,” Miromanov said. “I know what to expect. I know how to play against them. I’m excited for the challenge today.”
Miromanov was traded to Calgary as part of the deal that brought Noah Hanifin to Vegas. Hanifin will be making his return to Calgary tonight as well, making it a unique situation for both players to be playing their former teams a week after the trade went through.
Regardless, Miromanov had nothing but positive things to say about Vegas.
“We can only say good things about the people from top to bottom. I’m grateful to have an opportunity and chance,” Miromanov said. “I learned so much over those three years. I had a great time in Vegas. It’s amazing. I learned so much and developed a lot.”
For Pachal, who was claimed on waivers on Feb. 4, said he will remember how tight knit the team was and will never forget being a part of a Stanley Cup Champion.
“I had fond memories with a lot of those guys, especially being a part of that run last year,” Pachal said. “I have a lot of fond memories. I’m on the other side. There are no friends when we get on the ice tonight.”
