Winnipeg Jets head coach Scott Arniel has been named one of the three finalists for the Jack Adams Award, given to the "coach adjudged to have contributed the most to his team’s success."
Arniel and the Jets finished the season with the best record, winning the Presidents' Trophy for the first time in franchise history. Arniel also led the Jets to a franchise record in points and wins. Additionally, the Jets were the best defensive team in the league, allowing the fewest goals and ranked third in goals scored.
Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor, Gabriel Vilardi, Cole Perfetti and others all had career seasons, setting new career-highs in goals, points or in some cases, both.
Nominated alongside Arniel were Washington Capitals coach Spencer Carberry and Montreal Canadiens' Martin St. Louis. Carberry transformed a Capitals squad, turning a team that just barely qualified for the playoffs a season ago into a powerhouse, finishing second in the standings and leading the Eastern Conference.
St. Louis helped the Canadiens make the playoffs for the first time since 2021, speeding up their rebuild and making them a competitive team.
All three candidates are deserving of praise for transforming their clubs into something nobody thought they would be this season.
