Credit: Brandon Taylor/OHL ImagesLast week, after dropping out of the top spot in the OHL’s weekly power rankings for the first time since Oct. 13, the Brantford Bulldogs are back on top.
The Bulldogs got back on track after having their regulation streak snapped, defeating Kingston 4-2 and North Bay 7-2 this past week. Buffalo Sabres prospect Ryerson Leenders held down the crease in their two wins, stopping 54 of 58 for a .931 save percentage. He now holds the third-best goals-against-average (2.16) and save percentage (.922) in the league.
With a team littered with NHL prospects, it was a couple of 2026 NHL draft-eligible players who led the way offensively for Brantford. Cooper Dennis (2007-born) tallied two goals and four points. Despite his small stature, his offensive contributions this season can’t be ignored. His teammate, Caleb Malhotra, had the most contributions offensively in their two wins, recording four assists and five points.
Malhotra is quickly raising the eyebrows of scouts. He has been looked at as a player who could go in the first round, but after an impressive performance in the CHL USA Prospects Challenge, in conjunction with the season he’s having, scouts are starting to think he could be a top ten pick come the summertime. Malhotra is tied with Owen Sound Attack’s Pierce Mbuyi for most points amongst draft-eligible OHL players (37).
The Ottawa 67’s took over the number-one spot last week, but despite going 2-1 this past week, they move back down to number-two.
Ottawa’s rise to the top this year has been incredible to watch. The depth of their team has been spectacular — now add Maple Leafs prospect Sam McCue into the fray — and draft-eligible netminder Ryder Fetterolf has been outright dominant. They lost 4-1 against Barrie, but then beat Peterborough and a tough Flint squad. You can argue that they didn’t deserve to move out of the number-one spot.
Speaking of the Flint Firebirds, they dropped down to number six after going 1-1-1 on an Eastern Conference road trip. The Soo Greyhounds moved up to number four after two explosive wins over Oshawa and Sarnia, outscoring their opponents 18-5. Kitchener moved to number five following a four-game week, posting a 3-1 record, remaining on top of the Midwest Division.
